DEF Pumps for Fleets and Bus Garages: Drum, Tote and Hand Pumps
Most diesel trucks and buses built since 2010 use diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), and every garage that runs them needs a clean, reliable way to get DEF out of a 55 gallon drum or a 275/330 gallon tote and into the vehicle. The wrong pump contaminates the fluid or corrodes. The right one lasts for years.
Which DEF pump do you need?
A few vehicles, filling from drums: a hand lever pump with a discharge hose. DEF Hand Lever Pump with Discharge Hose (3007-DEF) moves up to 11.5 oz per stroke.
Daily filling from drums: a rotary hand pump is faster. DEF Rotary Pump, 8 GPM (ACT-DEF).
High-use bays with shop air: an air-operated pump does the work for you. DEF Air Drum Pump (3007A-DEF).
Filling from totes: add a camlock hose and DEF nozzle. DEF Hose Kit (IBCDEF-8C).
Keep your DEF clean
Use a pump made for DEF. Standard fuel pumps can have brass, copper or zinc parts that DEF attacks, and the corrosion contaminates the fluid.
Keep one pump per fluid. A pump that has touched diesel should never go into a DEF drum.
Cap drums between uses and store DEF out of direct sunlight.
